It’s said every cloud has its silver lining. In the winds of recent days a Kingdom-minded Christ follower should be a light amidst darkening skies. Here are some simple thoughts I journaled this morning, I pray they both encourage and spur you.
Family Coming Home.
Family and home is the founding block of Christ’s church. It’s in these circles parents, children, relatives, and close brothers/sisters in faith that God radiates and propels his Kingdom. COVID-19 has forced the hand of public officials and business to suggest to students and employees to stay home.
Church, don’t miss this opportunity. Now is not the time for binge watching the next show on our list, we need to engage our loved ones in meaningful and prayerful dialogue. Men, now is the time to spiritually lead our homes. They need us to be rock solid in these waves of uncertainty.
Course Correct to Humility.
The moral decay, hedonism, and the swelling political storm of our day has, in part, come to a humbling halt. A microscopic virus is bringing even the most powerful systems and positions to their knees. A worrying world undoubtedly wonders who to blame and to whom to find direction.
Church, we know only one name, Jesus. He is Lord over all, nature and nation, and our knelt hearts only hope in him. We must show our world our unwavering faith and pray they join us.
Fallen Biology & Sin Nature.
COVID-19 is a virus, which like any virus will only gain influence within a host. Unless remedied, it then in essence feeds on it’s host and inevitably destroys it.
Church, we know that sin operates exactly the same in every human heart and soul. There’s been a global sin pandemic since the fall in the garden. In this day, we must point our wandering world to the most pressing panic, the rescue of human souls. Ready your boots to share the gospel of peace.
Desperation for a Healer.
All attention and answers are directing towards medical officials and leaders. Rightfully so as their expertise and wisdom are demanded in these moments.
Church, let us remember to set our eyes and direct the gazes of family and our peers onto the face of Jesus. The true Healer and our wise King.
My Prayer
Heavenly Father, Christ our brother, Holy Spirit our comforter, reveal more and more to your church the Kingdom linings in our present darkness. Spur us to love and action.
Jesus, you are power, you are rescuer, you are healer, you are king, you are over all. Our souls find rest.
Jesus, have mercy on our day and bring healing to both body and soul.
Amen.
1 Peter 2:24-25
24 He personally carried our sins
in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
you are healed.
25 Once you were like sheep
who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
the Guardian of your souls.

Thanks Erin and Kyle! Feeling blessed to know you!
